The demarcated Vinho Verde Region extends across the northwest of Portugal, in the area traditionally known as Entre-Douro-e-Minho. In terms of geographical area, it is the largest Portuguese demarcated region, and one of the largest in Europe.
During this wine adventure you will discover and taste the wines from a unique wine producer in the sub region of Lima- Quinta do Ameal.
Quinta do Ameal is an ancient property (1710) of rare natural beauty. In the property are produced excellent white wines made from a Portuguese grape variety called Loureiro. This reaches its greatest aromatic and tasty expression at the incredible Lima region where the winery is located.
The wines produced in the property are exclusively from grapes grown organically, based on their philosophy that translates into focus more attention and energy on the vine, thereby producing grapes of high quality and excellence for which they achieve unique wines of “terroir”, with great personality and character. For Quinta do Ameal, great wines should always express a sense of place!!!
During this tour, you will learn about grape varieties used in this region, visit the winery, talk with the enologist, taste some of their fantastic wines and lunch in Quinta do Ameal (typical flavors from the region) in a parring with their wines.
You can also discover Ponte de Lima, the oldest vila in Portugal and truly a hidden gem in Portugal. The city has one of the most important rural markets in Portugal and the largest concentration of baroque manors in Portugal.
In the second weekend of September, Ponte de Lima hold the Feiras Novas (the new fairs) for three days since 1826, granted by the Royal Provision of king Pedro IV of Portugal.
This is a unique adventure for those who want to know the vibrant wines from Vinho Verde wine region and discover one Portuguese hidden gem.
The wine experience in Ameal is composed by:
Visit to the winery with explanation of the process of vinification, internship, bottling and labeling; Explanation of the process of production of biological grapes; Explanation of wines with light appetizers in a specific test room with a view to the whole vineyard or in the garden (pergola) if the weather helps.
Visit has of approximately 2 hours and taste 2 wines (Ameal – Classic and Ameal Choice), lunching in the property.
